Now in its 37th year, the AFI European Union Film Showcase continues its tradition of bringing the best in European cinema to Washington, DC-area audiences. The full lineup includes 54 films from all 27 member states, six U.S. premieres and 12 Best International Feature Film Oscar® submissions.

After the death of her mother, Sophia and her father (Anders Danielsen Lie) take refuge for the summer at the home of her grandmother (Glenn Close), which is nestled on the shores of a remote Finnish island. A vibrant adaptation of Tove Jansson’s beloved Nordic novel.
