Nic Balthazar's follow-up to festival favorite BEN X is this heart-warming but gut-wrenching film about friendship and death, based on the true story of Belgian politician Mario Verstraete, who fought to legalize euthanasia after his multiple sclerosis diagnosis. Slowly losing his faculties, Mario can't stand to sit around and experience his inevitable decline, instead preferring to go out on top, with his family and friends by his side. But Thomas, his best friend and doctor, struggles with saying goodbye. Warm and humorous in dealing with the gravest of topics, this life-affirming tearjerker won Best Film and Best Actor at the Flemish Film Awards.
