THE WALL [Die Wand]
Overnight, a mysterious force field drapes down over the mountain pass separating the Alpine farmhouse where Martina Gedeck (THE LIVES OF OTHERS, THE BAADER MEINHOF COMPLEX) is vacationing from the village below; other clues suggest some kind of catastrophe has wiped out human life. Battling despair, Gedeck does what needs doing: working the land, caring for the livestock, hunting game and finding vital companionship with her cats and dog, eventually keeping a journal of her experiences and awakened consciousness to the natural order of things around her. Adapted from Marlen Haushofer's existential sci-fi novel. Prize of the Ecumenical Jury, 2012 Berlin Film Festival; Official Selection, 2012 Karlovy Vary Film Festival.
