RUST AND BONE [De rouille et d'os]
Jacques Audiard's adaptation of hard-boiled novelist Craig Davidson's story collection features bravura performances by France's Oscar-winning Marion Cotillard and Belgium's Matthias Schoenaerts (BULLHEAD). Schoenaerts is a homeless single father and a hapless misfit in society; drifting from job to job, he finds success with bare-knuckle boxing, at ease with the brutal simplicity of fighting for money. Cotillard is a killer whale trainer whose professional risk-taking may be a manifestation of darker impulses. After a shocking accident, an unlikely relationship develops between the two. Official Selection, 2012 Cannes, Telluride, Toronto Film Festivals.
