HEMEL
A fearless and sexually charged performance by Hannah Hoekstra anchors this erotic drama, director Sacha Polak's debut feature. Hemel (Hoekstra) ("Heaven" in Dutch) is an emotionally stunted sexual predator, a habit she seems to have learned from her playboy father, with whom she's had an uncomfortably close yet subtly competitive relationship since her mother's early death. As her father settles in to a serious new relationship, Hemel feels threatened and lashes out with her only available weapon: her body. FIPRESCI Prize, 2012 Berlin Film Festival; Official Selection, 2012 Rotterdam and Karlovy Vary Film Festivals.
